i found this great quote in the wikipedia postmodernism entry... it went like this: "Enlightenment is totalitarian"... when i looked up the longer quote which this was taken out of context from, it turned out that it was in reference to the historical period of thought known as enlightenment and how anything that didn't fit into their paradigm was not accepted...

but the quote is a lot more powerful taken out of context... the idea of enlightenment is based upon the assumption that there is an unenlightened state, but because of the ultimate nondual nature of the world enlightenment is just a linguistic construct... enlightenment is the understanding of the inherent paradox of enlightenment...
